My name is Meike, I am a freelance visual communicator based in Stockholm, Sweden. My background is in scientific research, and it still shapes how I approach a project: I want to understand a subject before I start drawing it (my research record on ORCID).
I specialise in visualisations that communicate scientific knowledge and ideas, where form always follows the function. That being said, within that framework I love playing with flowy shapes and limited colour palettes that carry the occasional punch. I use a digital approach and aim for a feel that aligns with the message – clean and professional in some cases, approachable and friendly, sometimes humorous, in others.
My work ranges from figures for publication in scientific journals, including graphical abstracts, schematics, and data visualisations, to infographics, editorials, and product demonstrations. Clients include researchers and universities (eg Karolinska, KTH, Uppsala, SLU, Charité, Copenhagen, UiT, Birmingham, Utah), public institutions (eg Riksrevisionen, Swedish Agency for Accessible Media) and companies, amongst others.
